Ras Al Khaimah is one of the seven emirates that comprise the United Arab Emirates. Also known as the Ras Al Khaimah, this emirate consists largely of two regions, Nakheel and Old Town. Ras Al Khaimah has hosted human settlements for over 7,000 years and as such, it is a place filled with beautiful historic monuments.
If you are looking to take a trip to the emirate where His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al Qasimi currently rules, you might be interested in where to go when you get there. Today, we will be taking you through a couple of must-visit tourist destinations in the region.
After setting foot in the city of Ras Al Khaimah, you’ll be centrally located for a variety of fun excursions. Whether you want to see the historic surroundings or take in a natural wonder of the world, there will be plenty for you to do. Just remember, you’ll want to pack sunscreen, a good hat, and some comfortable clothing for the following fun activities. Are you all packed? Let’s get down to business.
1) Visit Jebel Jais – Northeast of RAK City, you’ll find yourself staring up at the tallest mountain in the United Arab Emirates. This mountain has a summit of over 1,900 meters. There is a new road that tourists can use to travel up to the top of the mountain, near the summit. The drive will have you white-knuckling your steering wheel, but you’ll be in awe at the beauty that you see. You’ll also have access to viewing platforms and delicious cafes once you arrive near the top. We suggest visiting during sunset or sunrise to make the most of your journey.
2) Take in the Beach – If you want to have a relaxing day in the city, you might want to head down to the beach. There are a variety of beaches located around the city, including beaches owned by private resorts. If you are not a guest at the private beach resorts, you can still rent a daily pass for access to the gated sections of the beach. You’ll find restaurants, loungers, fresh showers, and everything else that you could need for a relaxing day in the city.
3) Experience the Jebel Jais Flight Zipline – If you decide to take in the view at Jebel Jais, you might as well REALLY embrace the concept. The Jebel Jais zipline is the longest zipline in the world. Not only will you get to take in the beauty below you, but you’ll also get to satisfy your pursuit of thrills. The zipline gets up to nearly 75 MPH when at its fastest.
If you really want to enjoy everything that the city of Ras al Khaimah has to offer, you are going to need to spend multiple days on location. From the Ras al Khaimah National Museum to the natural wonders of the ancient world, you’ll have no shortage of entertainment to pursue. No matter what you do, make sure to document what you see.
